Lead single “Azadeh” — a female given name meaning free spirit & independence — nods to the “Woman Life Freedom” movement and the recent mass uprisings in Iran, with the artwork by Rana Fadavi emphasising their urgency. Its follow-up "Sappho's Fragments" has aired on BBC Radio 6 and totalled more than half a million streams since its release. Flowery, kaleidoscopic and contemplative, it’s like an old taping of Iran's beloved music show Rangarang brought back to life — with added DIY aesthetics and a certain indie flair. Fierce psychedelic guitars and flowing detuned synths infuse each track with emotion and nostalgia, resulting in a debut that's both rooted in Persian culture and distinctly modern.
